अध्याय १६: दैवासुरसंपद्विभागयोग

श्रीकृष्ण या जगात दोन प्रकारच्या प्रवृत्तीचे लोक असल्याचे सांगतात: दैवी आणि आसुरी. ते दैवी संपत्तीच्या (divine qualities) २६ लक्षणांचे वर्णन करतात, ज्यात अभय, सत्त्वशुद्धी, ज्ञानयोग, दान, दम, यज्ञ, स्वाध्याय, तप, सरळपणा, अहिंसा, सत्य, अक्रोध, त्याग, शांती, दया, निर्लोभीपणा आणि नम्रता यांचा समावेश आहे. ही दैवी संपत्ती मोक्षासाठी मानली जाते.

Shri Krishna explains that there are two kinds of created beings in this world: the divine and the demoniac. He describes the twenty-six divine qualities, including fearlessness, purification of one's existence, cultivation of spiritual knowledge, charity, self-control, performance of sacrifice, study of the Vedas, austerity, simplicity, nonviolence, truthfulness, freedom from anger, renunciation, tranquility, compassion, freedom from covetousness, and humility. These divine qualities are considered conducive to liberation.

त्याउलट, आसुरी संपत्तीच्या (demoniac qualities) लक्षणांमध्ये दंभ, दर्प, अभिमान, क्रोध, कठोरता आणि अज्ञान यांचा समावेश आहे. आसुरी स्वभावाचे लोक काय करावे आणि काय करू नये हे जाणत नाहीत. ते जगाला असत्य, आधारहीन आणि अनीश्वरवादी मानतात. ते काम, क्रोध आणि लोभाच्या आहारी जाऊन, क्रूर कर्मे करतात आणि नरकात जातात. म्हणून, माणसाने शास्त्रविधी जाणून, त्यानुसार कर्म करावे, जेणेकरून तो आसुरी प्रवृत्तींपासून दूर राहील.

Conversely, the demoniac qualities include hypocrisy, arrogance, conceit, anger, harshness, and ignorance. Those who are demoniac do not know what is to be done and what is not to be done. They say that this world is unreal, with no foundation, no God in control. Following such conclusions, they engage in unbeneficial, horrible works and are lost to the world, ending up in hell. Therefore, one should understand what is duty and what is not duty by the regulations of the scriptures and act accordingly, so as to avoid demoniac tendencies.
