अध्याय ७: ज्ञानविज्ञानयोग

श्रीकृष्ण आपल्या समग्र स्वरूपाचे ज्ञान (theoretcial knowledge) आणि विज्ञान (realized knowledge) सांगतात. ते म्हणतात की हजारो मनुष्यांपैकी एखादाच सिद्धीसाठी प्रयत्न करतो आणि त्या सिद्धांपैकी एखादाच त्यांना तत्त्वतः जाणतो. पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नी, वायू, आकाश, मन, बुद्धी आणि अहंकार ही त्यांची आठ प्रकारची अपरा (भौतिक) प्रकृती आहे. यापेक्षा वेगळी, जीवस्वरूप असलेली परा (आध्यात्मिक) प्रकृती आहे, जिने हे जग धारण केले आहे.

Shri Krishna imparts both theoretical (jnana) and realized (vijnana) knowledge of His complete form. He states that out of many thousands among men, one may endeavor for perfection, and of those who have achieved perfection, hardly one knows Him in truth. Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence, and false ego—all together these eight constitute His separated material energies (Apara Prakriti). Besides this, there is another, superior energy of His, which comprises the living entities who are exploiting the resources of this material world (Para Prakriti).

तेच सर्व सृष्टीचे उगम आणि प्रलय आहेत. पाण्यातील रस, चंद्र-सूर्यातील प्रकाश, वेदांमधील ओंकार, सर्व काही तेच आहेत. त्यांच्या त्रिगुणात्मक मायेमुळे लोक त्यांना ओळखू शकत नाहीत. चार प्रकारचे पुण्यवान भक्त (आर्त, जिज्ञासू, अर्थार्थी आणि ज्ञानी) त्यांची उपासना करतात. त्यापैकी ज्ञानी भक्त श्रेष्ठ आहे, कारण तो अनन्यभावाने जोडलेला असतो.

He is the origin and dissolution of all creation. He is the taste of water, the light of the sun and moon, the syllable 'Om' in the Vedic mantras; He is everything. Deluded by the three modes of His Maya, people do not know Him. Four kinds of pious men begin to render devotional service unto Him—the distressed, the desirer of wealth, the inquisitive, and he who is searching for knowledge of the Absolute. Among them, the wise devotee is the best because he is exclusively devoted.
